Carlisle Bay on Antigua is one of the leading luxury Caribbean resorts, its accommodation designed to allow for both families and couples to holiday in peace. Both kinds of traveller have a dedicated end of the resort, which allows for everyone to enjoy the tranquility of the spectacular beach.
The resort is made up of 82 contemporary suites - all with ocean views; some suites work best for couples; others are for families, with a relaxed contemporary design retained throughout. By day, every room is filled with sunshine from sea-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto private terraces. Many rooms lead directly onto the beach. Others have lawn and far-reaching ocean views.

Dining at Carlisle Bay is all about choosing the right restaurant to suit your mood, from a relaxed, foot-in-the-sand lunch delivered to your lounger in the Coconut Grove, to a romantic dinner for two at East, which is considered one of the island's finest Asian restaurants.
Indigo on the Beach restaurant is the relaxed heart of Carlisle Bay. Sea breezes fill the open-sided room and terrace. Tables are spread out over a wooden floor on which bare feet are welcome, at any time of day. Dishes tend toward the fresh and healthy - grilled seafood, salads, home-made breads and pastas - while children can enjoy the flexible menus designed just for them. A beach barbecue is served here once a week.
Ottimo! is the newest restaurant; an Italian beside the pool. With an authentic wood-burning pizza oven, this restaurant brings a little Italy to the Caribbean.
Dining on the Beach and Jetty are options for guests looking for something a little private, allowing you to make the most of the wondrous location your personal waiter is on hand to bring you the culinary delights of the Caribbean.
First sighted by Christopher Columbus during his second Caribbean voyage, it wasn’t until 1632 that Antigua was settled by a group of Englishmen from St Kitts – despite fierce resistance from the Caribs. The plantations followed, and slaves to work the sugar cane fields. Slavery was only abolished in 1834. In 1981, Antigua achieved full independent status.
English Harbour is where this history is at its most present, where Horatio Nelson constructed Nelson’s Dockyard in the late 18th-century. Just a 20-minute drive from Carlisle Bay, it is a key highlight of the quiet south coast. Then there is the capital of St John’s, the rainforest and 365 beaches. Carlisle Bay provides access to all of this, with knowledgeable guides, convivial drivers, and a discerning sense of what our guests might enjoy, from golf to shopping.
